One of Americas most funniest and loved sitcom aired on NBC on September 14, 1996 to May 9, 1992. The show featured Blanche Devereaux (Rue McClanahan), who passed on June 3, 2010 at the age of 76, Rose Nylund (Betty White), Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur), and Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty). These ladies shared a house in Miami. When Blanche Devereaux (Rue McClanahan) the owner of the house who posts an ad for “room for rent” the lives of these women come to life. Later in the show the girls are joined by Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty), when her retirement home burns down. These women became best fiends and helped each other out.
The Golden Girls won several awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series twice and three Golden Globes for outstanding TV series. The ladies had many nominations throughout the life of the show.
Since the NBC sitcom was such a mash hit, Disney had the brilliant idea to remake the classic comedy. Now this is not ordinary remark, now the Golden Girls are “Los Años Dorados”, staring Rebecca Jones y Susana Alexander from Mexico, Kristina Lilley from Colombia and Lili Renteria from Cuba production for the remake is in Caracas, Venezuela. Now the girls might not be named the same but the plot line the house sharing, and all the craziness will remain the same. I hope this version does justice to the Emmy Award wining sitcom.
